A Story of Perseverance

Led by Example
Son of an FBI agent and teacher, Sean lived all over the country surrounded by role models, and values his formative experiences in Virginia. A graduate of Fairfax County public schools, Sean learned many life lessons from the role models around him. Hard work, commitment, compassion, and service defined his upbringing.

Hard work pays off
Sean graduated from the United States Air Force Academy earning his way to pilot training! His Integrity, service, and a commitment to excellence are embedded in his DNA.

A Good Match
Sean wouldn’t be where he is today without the support of his wife, Erika. Together they have adventured through 3 deployments and 7 moves, the most recent of which brought them to Virginia Beach. Now that his military career is complete, he joins her as a real estate professional.

Growing together
Fatherhood presented Sean with new challenges, which he enthusiastically embraced. Whether he’s leading a cub scout troop or helping his daughter train for a race, Sean lives by example and demonstrates the importance a well-rounded life and service to the community.

Servant Leader
Always people-first oriented, Sean emphasized humble, approachable, and credible servant leadership as he worked his way up to the rank of Colonel. He went on to command and lead troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Activism & Organizing
Sean began to give more of his time and energy to the community, working with local democrats and veterans to bring attention to causes that align with his values, including voter rights, reproductive rights, and police oversight.

Building Consensus
Sean chaired the Virginia Beach Citizens Review Panel Task Force, a diverse group which explored issues in our community and eventually implemented an Independent Citizen Review Board for community-police oversight. The recommendation was unanimously adopted by City Council in 2022.
